Basketball Recap: Tranquillity Takes a Loss

Tranquillity was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were outmatched by the Coalinga Horned Toads and fell 67-20. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1274th, while the Horned Toads are ranked 294th).

Despite the loss, Tranquillity had strong showings from Isabela Camacho, who posted 12 points, and Joseline Wells, who had seven points. That was a full 35% of Tranquillity's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Coalinga to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lali Maciel, who went 5 of 9 en route to 12 points in addition to five assists and four steals. Maciel is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 17 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Jaelyn Bourdeau, who put up 13 points along with five assists and five steals.

Tranquillity's defeat dropped their record down to 4-16. As for Coalinga, their win was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-3.

Tranquillity didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 22-17 loss against Avenal on the 24th. Coalinga has also already played their next contest, a 58-20 victory against Dos Palos on the 24th.
