Basketball Recap: Classical Academy Victorious

Classical Academy posted their closest victory since December 10, 2025 on Friday. They pulled ahead with a 55-54 photo finish over the Tri-City Christian Eagles. This was a revenge game for the Caimans: when they faced off against the Eagles back in January, they had to take a 48-31 defeat.

Classical Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Hannah Lanzone, who dropped a double-double with 26 points and 19 rebounds. With that strong performance, Lanzone is now averaging an impressive 16.2 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Justine Batcheller, who dropped a double-double with 24 points and 11 boards.

Classical Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive boards in four consecutive matchups.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ava Johnson, who shot 45% from the field en route to 14 points and six steals. Johnson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in each of the last nine games she's played. Another player making a difference was Talia Anthony, who posted 20 points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals.

Classical Academy has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-16 record this season. As for Tri-City Christian, they now have a losing record of 6-7.

Classical Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 42-34 victory against Santa Fe Christian on the 10th. As for Tri-City Christian, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 43-24 win against Madison on the 9th.
