Volleyball Recap: Windsor Falls Short Against Ranked Fossil Ridge + How To Watch

Windsor faced Fossil Ridge in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Wizards came up short against the SaberCats, falling 3-0. The Wizards have struggled against the SaberCats recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Windsor was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Fossil Ridge work for it, especially in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 27-25, 25-22, 25-19.

Windsor lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Avery Smiley, who had 27 digs and one assist. She is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 11 or more in each of the last nine games she's played. Another player making a difference was Hallie Burroughs, who had 17 assists and seven digs.

Fossil Ridge can attribute much of their success to Trinity Burchett, who had 12 digs and four assists. That's the most digs Burchett has posted over her last eight matches.

Windsor's defeat dropped their record down to 12-4. As for Fossil Ridge, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 17-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Windsor will square off against University at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Fossil Ridge, they will challenge Poudre at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
