Baseball Game Preview: Dalton Catamounts vs. Allatoona Buccaneers

The Dalton Catamounts are taking a road trip to face off against the Allatoona Buccaneers at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Dalton sitting on nine straight wins and Allatoona on seven.

Last Friday, Dalton got the win against Woodland by a conclusive 12-1. Considering the Catamounts have won six matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Allatoona never let their opponents score on Friday. They put the hurt on Southeast Whitfield County with a sharp 15-0 victory. The Buccaneers are also no stranger to big wins: their blowout was the eighth game they've won by 6+ runs this season.

Will Clark looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Ben Harrison was a standout: he scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Cruz Paul, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-1.

Allatoona kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in three consecutive contests.

Dalton's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Allatoona, their record now sits at 15-3.

Dalton couldn't quite finish off Allatoona when the teams last played back in March of 2019 and fell 3-1. Can Dalton avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
