Basketball Recap: Palm Desert's Victory on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Palm Desert waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the Xavier Prep Saints as they made off with a 49-28 win. The Aztecs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 contests by 21 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Palm Desert to victory, but perhaps none more so than Katelyn Gallagher, who went 7 for 15 en route to 15 points in addition to seven rebounds and five steals. Gallagher is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 43 games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Naomi Plunkett, who went 5 of 12 to rack up 10 points along with six boards and four steals.

Despite the loss, Xavier Prep still got an impressive performance from Grace Thomsen, who posted 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Angie Coyne-Baeza, who earned seven points.

Palm Desert's victory bumped their record up to 18-8. As for Xavier Prep, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 9-19 record this season.

Coming up, Palm Desert will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Coastal Christian at 5:00 p.m. Coastal Christian will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something Palm Desert surely won't give up without a fight. Xavier Prep does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
