Football Recap: Franklin Takes a Loss

Franklin was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They received a blow as they fell 21-7 to the Independence Eagles. The Admirals were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Independence's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Eli Garlington led the charge by rushing for 114 yards and one score. Those 114 rushing yards gave Garlington a new career-high. Hendrix Harvey also helped with two touchdowns in total.

Franklin's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Independence, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Franklin will venture away from home to face off against Centennial at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Admirals will be up against the Cougars' rather soft defense (which has allowed 40.8 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Independence, they are taking a road trip to challenge Ravenwood on Friday. The Raptors' defense has only allowed 15 points per game this season, so the Eagles' offense will have their work cut out for them.
