Basketball Recap: Cameron County Sets Scoring Season-High Against Smethport

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cameron County). They walked away with a 58-45 win over the Smethport Hubbers on Friday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Raiders as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Despite the loss, Smethport still got an impressive performance from Payton Neff, who shot 7-for-12 from downtown and almost dropped a double-double on 26 points and nine rebounds. Neff has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Madelyn McKean was another key player, putting up seven points along with 11 boards and three steals.

Cameron County's win bumped their record up to 10-7. As for Smethport, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-14.

Cameron County will head out to take on Coudersport at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Cameron County has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Smethport, they will host Galeton at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Smethport is facing Galeton at the right time seeing as Galeton is stuck on a 16-game losing streak.
