Football Recap: Marcus Council's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Streetsboro over Norton

If Streetsboro was feeling good fresh off their 49-7 takedown of Springfield last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Rockets took a 23-13 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Norton Panthers on Friday. The Rockets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Streetsboro's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Marcus Council, who rushed for 84 yards and one touchdown. Council really tore up the turf during one magnificent 70-yard run. Janiere Cook was in the mix too, providing Streetsboro with one score.

Streetsboro's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 4-2. As for Norton, the win keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Streetsboro will challenge Woodridge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Norton, they will head out to take on Cloverleaf at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Colts' defense has only allowed 13.2 points per game this season, so the Panthers' offense will have their work cut out for them.
