Mitchell County hasn't had much luck against Miller County recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. Keyon Ross was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring three runs and stealing Three bases. while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Quintion McCraw, who scored three runs and stole Four bases. while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Miller County waltzed into their matchup on Friday with five straight wins... but they left with six. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Greenwave an 18-0 shutout. That looming 18-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Pirates yet this season.
Dru Johnson made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Miller County let Thomas Cook and Creek Durden run wild. Cook scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Durden went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Cook also put up a triple, which was his first of the season. Brayden Horn was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.
Miller County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .639. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Miller County's record now sits at 7-3. As for Mitchell County, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-10.
Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Mitchell County has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .434. However, it's not like Miller County struggles in that department as they've averaged .438. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
