Soccer Game Preview: Hueneme vs. Birmingham

The Hueneme Vikings will take on the Birmingham Patriots at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. Birmingham took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Hueneme, who comes in off a win.

Hueneme headed into their last game having not scored more than one goal for four straight, but Nordhoff let them put that streak behind them. Hueneme never let Nordhoff onto the board and left with a 5-0 win last Friday. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won three contests by five goals or more so far this season.

They hit Nordhoff with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Joscelin Lopez (2), Alexa Reyes, Jacquelin Lopez, and Daisy Garcia.

Meanwhile, after soaring to eight goals the game before, Birmingham was a bit more limited in their matchup on Saturday. They came up short against Valencia, falling 4-0. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 411th, while the Vikings are ranked 187th).

Hueneme's victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 4-3. As for Birmingham, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.
