Basketball Recap: El Camino Comes Up Short

El Camino extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping them down to 6-14. They took a blow against the Rio Americano Raiders, falling 65-21. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 950th, while the Raiders are ranked 459th).

As for Rio Americano, their record now sits at 9-12. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Rio Americano got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Gabby Ellyason out in front who went 5-for-7 to rack up 13 points and four steals. Those four steals gave Ellyason a new career-high. Kevan Mikacich was another key player, dropping a double-double with ten points and ten boards.

El Camino has already played their next contest, a 48-45 loss against Rio Linda on the 4th. As for Rio Americano, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 56-42 defeat against Ponderosa on the 5th.
