Baseball Game Preview: Troup County Tigers vs. Columbus Blue Devils

The Troup County Tigers will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Columbus Blue Devils at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Troup County has five straight victories, Columbus has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Troup County barely beat Callaway the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Tigers blew past the Cavaliers 9-1 on Tuesday. The nine-run effort marked the Tigers' lowest-scoring matchup of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Columbus had taken Harris County down for three straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Monday. The Blue Devils fell 9-4 to the Tigers.

David Vega made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That run was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Will Seals, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Columbus' defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Troup County, their win bumped their record up to 5-0.

Everything went Troup County's way against Columbus in their previous meeting back in March of 2025, as Troup County made off with a 7-0 victory. Do the Tigers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Blue Devils turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
