Soccer Recap: Pleasant Grove Gets the Win

Pleasant Grove won the last time they faced Sheldon and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Pleasant Grove Eagles sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over the Sheldon Huskies. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 153rd, while the Huskies are ranked 805th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Adalynn Alley and Monica Palafox scored both of Pleasant Grove's goals, bringing their combined season tally to ten goals.

Pleasant Grove's victory bumped their record up to 9-3-2. As for Sheldon, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-11-3 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pleasant Grove will venture away from home to take on Monterey Trail at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Pleasant Grove's last three games have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. Sheldon has already played their next contest (against Laguna Creek), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
