Pacifica's loss ends seven-game winning streak on the road

Recap: Pacifica Mariners vs. Godinez Fundamental Grizzlies

After a string of 11 wins, the Pacifica Mariners's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They took a 46-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of Godinez Fundamental. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Pacifica has scored all season.

Leading Godinez Fundamental to victory were Joanna Alcocer and Mayra Soltero. Alcocer scored ten points along with four steals, while Soltero scored 15 points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Julissa Mota, who scored five points along with three steals.

Pacifica's defeat ended a seven-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 11-1. As for Godinez Fundamental, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-6.

Pacifica will be home for the holidays to greet South Hills at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. South Hills will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 363rd, while Pacifica is ranked 119th). Godinez Fundamental will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Green Valley at 7:30 p.m. on December 27th.
