Basketball Recap: Tempe Prep Comes Up Short

After flying high against Maryvale Prep on Thursday, Tempe Prep came back down to earth. The Knights had to suffer through a 54-14 loss at the hands of the Lincoln Prep Lightning. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Knights of the 40-16 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in November of 2024.

Lincoln Prep got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Mattie Droeg out in front who dropped a double-double with 22 points and ten boards. Those ten rebounds gave Droeg a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Samantha Morris, who posted nine points in addition to seven boards and six assists.

Tempe Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Lincoln Prep, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Tempe Prep will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Scottsdale Preparatory Academy at 5:30 p.m. on December 2. As for Lincoln Prep, they will challenge Veritas Prep at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
