Basketball Recap: Port of Los Angeles Starts Season with Victory on the Road

Port of Los Angeles had to kick off their season on the road on Wednesday, but they showed no ill effects. They walked away with a 51-44 win over the Rancho Dominguez Lobos. For the Polar Bears, this counts as revenge for the 39-20 victory the Lobos walked away with the last time they faced one another back in November of 2024.

Port of Los Angeles found their leader in freshman Jenesis Romero, who posted 25 points.

Mikea'Lynn Bailey and Marley Robinson certainly did their best on Wednesday to avoid the loss. Bailey dropped a double-double with 13 points and 17 rebounds, while Robinson had eight points and six boards. Bailey has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more boards the last three times she's played.

Rancho Dominguez's loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Port of Los Angeles will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Jordan at 3:00 p.m. on December 5. As for Rancho Dominguez, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 57-11 defeat against Robert F. Kennedy Community on the 20th.
