Basketball Game Preview: Troy Warriors vs. Brea Olinda Wildcats

The Troy Warriors will head out to challenge the Brea Olinda Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Troy took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They enjoyed a cozy 58-43 victory over El Modena. Troy's win was all the more impressive since the Vanguards were averaging only 26.35 points allowed on the season.

Meanwhile, Brea Olinda entered their tilt with Foothill on Tuesday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They managed a 44-38 victory over the Knights. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 177th, while the Knights are ranked 484th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Troy better focus on containing Sarah Wang and Liz Han as the pair were huge in Brea Olinda's win. Wang posted 17 points, while Han scored 14 points.

Brea Olinda is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 14-10 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.0 points per game. As for Troy, they pushed their record up to 10-13 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.

Troy came up short against Brea Olinda in their previous matchup two weeks ago, falling 48-42. Can Troy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
