Preview: Eastside Lions vs. Lancaster Eagles
Eastside is 2-8 against Lancaster since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Eastside Lions will be playing at home against the Lancaster Eagles at 5:00 p.m. Eastside will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
Eastside put the finishing touches on their seventh blowout victory of the season last Saturday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Rosamond 62-22 on the road. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Eastside has posted since December 14, 2023.
Eastside's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Aprill Medrano led the charge by scoring 17 points. Kayla Correa was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Meanwhile, Lancaster didn't have too much trouble with Durango on the road on Saturday as they won 62-43. The victory was all the more spectacular given Lancaster's disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 423rd in California, while Durango is ranked 68th in Nevada).
Eastside is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. As for Lancaster, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-6.
Eastside was able to grind out a solid win over Lancaster in their previous meeting back in November of 2023, winning 44-35. Will Eastside repeat their success, or does Lancaster have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
