Baseball Recap: Piedmont Academy Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Piedmont Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Tattnall Square Academy Trojans on Tuesday, sneaking past 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Cougars have posted since May 4, 2024.

Nick Gervasio spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Piedmont Academy is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 9-10 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jack Adams, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. He is becoming a predictor of Piedmont Academy's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 5-1 (and 7-9 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Tyler Griswell, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, one double, and one RBI.

Piedmont Academy's record now sits at 12-10. As for Tattnall Square Academy, their record is now 19-6.

Piedmont Academy will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Trojans: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
