Recap: Tyrone Golden Eagles vs. Juniata Valley Hornets
The Tyrone Golden Eagles's six-game losing streak came to an end on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Juniata Valley 42-40. The victory was just what Tyrone needed coming off of a 68-24 loss in their prior contest.
Juniata Valley's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Anna Taylor, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 14 rebounds. That was a full 37.5% of Juniata Valley's points, marking the eighth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Kassidy Watson was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Tyrone's victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-9. As for Juniata Valley, their loss was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 4-9.
Tyrone will head out on the road to face off against Bellwood-Antis at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Bellwood-Antis presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Tyrone in Pennsylvania (Bellwood-Antis is ranked 231st, while Tyrone is ranked 501st). As for Juniata Valley, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Glendale at 6:30 p.m. on January 15th.
