Football Recap: Freeport Starts Season with Victory on the Road + How To Watch

Freeport had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They snuck past the Boylan Catholic Titans with an 18-14 win. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Pretzels' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 323rd, while the Titans are ranked 99th).

Denarius Epps had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 182 yards and three scores while picking up 9.1 yards per carry, and also picked up 64 receiving yards. Those 64 receiving yards gave him a new career-high.

Epps was just one part of a punishing run game: Freeport was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 230 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Boylan Catholic only rushed for 43 rushing yards.
