Basketball Recap: Liberty Takes a Loss

Liberty was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They opened the new year with a less-than-successful 34-21 loss to the Fullerton Indians.

When it comes to explaining why Liberty lost, don't look at Kelli Harris-Wellman. Despite the final result, she posted six points along with eight boards and six steals. Harris-Wellman has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Erin Payne, who put up four points and six rebounds.

Liberty's defeat dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Fullerton, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-10 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Liberty will host Rancho Verde at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Fullerton, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Santa Ana at 6:00 p.m. Fullerton will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
