Matchup between No. 8 Lake Mary and No. 12 Mainland headlines the action.

The high school football schedule in Florida features just one matchup between top 25 teams in the state as No. 8 Lake Mary faces No. 12 Mainland (Daytona Beach) at 7 p.m. on Friday night.

Mainland enters the anticipated meeting with a perfect 9-0 record and has outscored its opponents by 27.3 points per contest. From Sept. 29-Oct. 19, the Buccaneers defense recorded three consecutive shutouts, racking up 132 points in the process.

Senior defensive lineman L.J. McCray and Ramon McCollough Jr. are the catalysts for the Mainland defense, which has allowed just 97 points all season. McCray, a five-star committed to Florida, had a 3-sack performance in the season opener.

Lake Mary comes into the meeting with an 8-1 record after suffering its first loss last week against No. 11 Seminole 29-28. The Rams were led by sophomore quarterback Noah Grubbs who passed for three touchdowns and junior running back Isaiah Thomas who went over 100 yards on the ground. Thomas is 89 yards away from hitting the 1,000 yard milestone.

Other games of intrigue Friday include one-loss No. 14 Cardinal Newman (West Palm Beach) traveling to Palm Beach Central (Wellington) and No. 19 St. Augustine hosting two-loss Palatka.
