Softball Recap: Sonoraville Snags 21st Win in Last 22 Games

Sonoraville had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Josey Eagles a 16-0 shutout on Wednesday. Considering the Phoenix have won 16 matchups by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Ansley Hall looked comfortable as she struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in 17 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Sonoraville got a massive performance out of Marley Hall, who went 1-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Those four RBI gave Hall a new career-high. Julia Patterson was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and three runs.

Sonoraville is on a roll lately: they've won 21 of their last 22 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 27-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.1 runs over those games. As for Josey, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season.

As of now, neither Sonoraville nor Josey have any future games scheduled.
