Baseball Game Preview: Lincoln Academy Eagles vs. Oceanside Mariners

The Lincoln Academy Eagles will face off against the Oceanside Mariners at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Lincoln Academy has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with four straight defeats, while Oceanside will come in with three straight victories.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Lincoln Academy's offense. They lost 6-0 to Leavitt on Tuesday.

Lincoln Academy saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Drew Nichols, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Oceanside). They put the hurt on Winslow with a sharp 15-5 win on Tuesday. The Mariners not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since May 1st (when they won 13-3).

Oceanside got a massive performance out of Braeden Toothaker, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those four RBI gave Toothaker a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Trevor Farrington, who went 1-for-3 with three runs and one double.

Oceanside always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .513. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Lincoln Academy's loss dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Oceanside, their victory bumped their record up to 5-7.

Lincoln Academy couldn't quite finish off Oceanside in their previous matchup back in April of 2025 and fell 4-2. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
