Softball Recap: Elkhorn Now 5-1 over Last Six Games

Elkhorn saw some tournament action on Saturday. They walked away with a 7-3 victory over the Cozad Haymakers.

Ella Pearson and Lorena Mishler did most of the damage at the plate: Pearson went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one RBI, while Mishler went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That RBI was Pearson's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Samantha Michaud, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Elkhorn was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They are 4-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Elkhorn is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Cozad, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

Looking ahead, Elkhorn will take on Gretna at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Antlers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Dragons have averaged an impressive 7 runs per game this season. As for Cozad, they will face off against McCook at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Haymakers are facing the Bison at the right time seeing as the Bison are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
