Football Recap: Jaxson Vanderbeek's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Laguna Hills over Orange

The Laguna Hills Hawks didn't have quite enough to beat the Orange Panthers on Friday and fell 46-43. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (42), the Hawks still had to take the loss.

Several Hawks players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jaxson Vanderbeek, who rushed for 93 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 130 yards and a pair of TDs. Khryztopher Entrala was another key rusher, gaining 118 total yards and two touchdowns.

Special teams also played a big role in the game for Laguna Hills, adding 14 points to the final score. All came from Nathaniel Mammen: he went 3-for-3 kicking field goals for nine points, and 5-for-5 kicking extra points for an additional five.

Star Thomas was a one-man wrecking crew For Orange. as he rushed for 196 yards and two scores while picking up 10.9 yards per carry, and also threw for 334 yards and a pair of TDs. A healthy portion of Thomas' aerial production (90 yards to be exact) went to Malahki Allen, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Laguna Hills' defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Orange, the victory also got them back to even at 1-1.

Laguna Hills has already played their next match, a 44-30 win against Capistrano Valley Christian on the 5th. As for Orange, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 15-7 victory against Los Osos on the 5th.
