Softball Game Preview: Bloomingdale Bulls vs. Montverde Academy Eagles

The Bloomingdale Bulls will head out on the road to square off against the Montverde Academy Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Bloomingdale's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Montverde Academy's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Bloomingdale is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Newsome just ended the team's seven-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Wolves by a score of 4-3.

Natalie Cable put in work while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 14 batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-3.

Cable wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Olivia Anderson, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

Montverde Academy hadn't beaten Eustis on the road since February 24, 2015 but that history sure didn't bother them on Wednesday. The Eagles blew past the Panthers 12-0. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won 13 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

The victory made it two in a row for Montverde Academy and bumps their season record up to 18-2. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Bloomingdale, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-5.
