Baseball Recap: Independence Victorious

While Independence's win against Walnut Ridge wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The 76ers skirted past the Scots 6-5. The victory continues a trend for the 76ers in their matchups with the Scots: they've now won seven in a row.

Darric Gibson made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over 5.2 innings while giving up four earned runs off four hits. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 5.8 strikeouts per game. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 2-for-2.

In other batting news, Deven Davis Jr was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Briden Luckett, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Independence's win bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Walnut Ridge, they dropped their record down to 0-3 with the defeat, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season.
