Baseball Recap: Biddeford Comes Up Short

Biddeford extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping them down to 3-8. They lost 13-0 to the Massabesic Mustangs. Surprisingly, this marked the fifth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor in this series.

Biddeford saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Parker Blais, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base.

As for Massabesic, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.6 runs over those games.

On Massabesic's side, not much got past Landen Richard, who gave up just three hits and racked up eight Ks to keep Biddeford off the board.

On the hitting side, Emmett Carroll and Ryan Merrifield did most of the damage at the plate: Carroll went 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI, while Merrifield got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those three runs gave Merrifield a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Henry Marcotte, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
