Soccer Game Preview: Temple City vs. Monrovia

The Temple City Rams will head out to face off against the Monrovia Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.

Temple City is coming into the contest fresh off a high-scoring shootout with La Canada that saw the pair combine for 21 shots on goal. Temple City came up short against La Canada on Wednesday, falling 8-3. While losing is never fun, the Rams can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 535th, while the Spartans are ranked 71st).

Temple City hit La Canada with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Adele Ellis, Azalea Mata, and Kayla Day.

Meanwhile, Monrovia came tearing into Wednesday's matchup with four straight wins and they left with even more momentum. Their defense stepped up to hand the Vikings an 8-0 shutout.

Monrovia pushed their record up to 6-3-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 15 goals over those three games. As for Temple City, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-7-1.

Temple City might still be hurting after the 5-2 defeat they got from Monrovia in their previous matchup on Monday. Can Temple City avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
