Given the Vikings' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 125th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 705th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Vanden's win was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-8. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.3 points per game. As for Wood, their loss dropped their record down to 10-14.
