Football Recap: Espanola Valley Skates Past Aztec with Ease

Espanola Valley got themselves on the board against Aztec on Saturday, but Aztec never followed suit. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Tigers 55-0. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Sundevils considering their 12-point performance the matchup before.

Espanola Valley had a senior duo take command as Cody Coffeen picked up 105 receiving yards and one touchdown and Michael Maestas picked up 104 receiving yards and one TD. Maestas has become a key player for the Sundevils: the team is undefeated when he posts at least 80 receiving yards, but 1-5 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Santiago Trujillo, who rushed for 55 yards and one score.

The win got Espanola Valley back to even at 5-5. As for Aztec, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.

As of now, neither Espanola Valley nor the Tigers have any future games scheduled.
