Soccer Game Preview: Roosevelt vs. King

The Roosevelt Mustangs will face off against the King Wolves at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Roosevelt sitting on three straight victories and King on six.

If Roosevelt beats King with three goals on Wednesday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. The Mustangs walked away with a 3-1 win over Ayala on Tuesday. Given Roosevelt's advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 31st, while Ayala are ranked 447th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Roosevelt hit Ayala with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Delilah Woods, Kamryn Rembis, and Emma Gause.

Meanwhile, King ended the year with a bang, routing Don Lugo 4-1 on Tuesday. King might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by three goals or more this season.

Roosevelt's victory bumped their record up to 9-3-3. As for King, their win bumped their record up to 12-2-3.

Roosevelt got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in January against King by a conclusive 4-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
