Soccer Game Preview: Homestead vs. Gunn

The Homestead Mustangs are taking a road trip to square off against the Gunn Titans at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Homestead's last five matches have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

On Wednesday, Homestead didn't have quite enough to beat Los Gatos and fell 3-2. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 250th, while the Wildcats are ranked 56th).

Meanwhile, Gunn was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of Mountain View. The game was a 1-1 toss-up at halftime, but the Titans couldn't quite close it out.

Gunn's defeat dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Homestead, they now have a losing record of 6-7.

Everything went Homestead's way against Gunn in their previous meeting back in January, as Homestead made off with a 9-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Homestead since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
