Softball Game Preview: Silver Creek Raptors vs. Monarch Coyotes

The Silver Creek Raptors are taking a road trip to square off against the Monarch Coyotes at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Silver Creek has given up an average of 7.5 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Silver Creek is headed into Saturday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight games on Wednesday. They came up short against Horizon, falling 17-0.

Meanwhile, Monarch had to endure a six-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They were the clear victors by a 6-0 margin over Northglenn on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Coyotes, who have now won seven games by six runs or more so far this season.

Caroline Katzin made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in October of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI.

In other batting news, Capri Polluconi was excellent, going 3-for-4 with three runs and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in September. Another player making a difference was Bailey Adams, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Silver Creek's loss dropped their record down to 11-11. As for Monarch, their record now sits at 9-13.

Silver Creek was able to grind out a solid win over Monarch in their previous matchup back in September of 2024, winning 10-6. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Raptors since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
