Volleyball Game Preview: Missisquoi Valley Thunderbirds vs. Hartford Hurricanes + How To Watch

The Missisquoi Valley Thunderbirds will head out to take on the Hartford Hurricanes at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Missisquoi Valley is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Vermont's top teams: Colchester, who was ranked tenth at the time (Missisquoi Valley was ranked 20th). The Thunderbirds lost 3-0 to the Lakers on Monday. The defeat continues a trend for the Thunderbirds in their meetings with the Lakers: they've now lost five in a row.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-13, 25-6, 25-19.

Meanwhile, Hartford didn't have quite enough to beat Middlebury on Saturday and fell 3-2. While the Hurricanes didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Tigers 25-20 in the first set.

Hartford wouldn't go down easily and took Middlebury into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking two-point loss. The final score came out to 20-25, 25-20, 25-20, 22-25, 16-14.

Hartford suffered their first road loss, dropping their record down to 6-2. As for Missisquoi Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-9.

Missisquoi Valley might still be hurting after the 3-0 loss they got from Hartford in their previous meeting back in September of 2024. Can the Thunderbirds avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
