Softball Recap: Newnan Comes Up Short

Newnan and East Paulding squared off in some playoff action on Monday, but Newnan had to settle for second. They came up short against the Raiders, falling 9-1. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Cougars couldn't push the score so high this time.

Newnan saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brooke Bowen, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run.

Newnan has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last ten matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-18 record this season. As for East Paulding, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-11 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: East Paulding beat Newnan by a score of 18-5 later that day.
