Baseball Recap: Calumet Takes a Loss

Calumet fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Westwood on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Patriots by a score of 8-7. The Copper Kings just can't catch a break and have now endured six losses in a row.

Andrew Juntilla made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. Owen Loukus also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Calumet's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Westwood, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-5 record this season.

Calumet will square off against Jeffers at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Westwood, they will face off against Hancock at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs' pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so the Patriots' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
