Preview: Durham Trojans vs. East Nicolaus Spartans
Two dominant players in Payton Santos and Rylee Gillespie are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Durham Trojans will head out on the road to take on the East Nicolaus Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Friday, Durham was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 55-51 to Colusa. Durham has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, East Nicolaus was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Wednesday as they fell 42-37 to Pierce.
Durham's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-9. As for East Nicolaus, their loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-8.
Durham came up short against East Nicolaus in their previous meeting on January 3rd, falling 41-34. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Gillespie, who scored 11 points along with nine steals.
