Basketball Recap: Sierra Vista Snags Eighth Victory in Last Ten Games

If Duarte wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Sierra Vista, they should've done a better job of containing Zaira Eulloque. The Sierra Vista Dons took their match on Thursday with ease, bagging a 51-18 victory over the Duarte Falcons thanks in part to Eulloque, who almost dropped a double-double on 22 points and nine rebounds. The contest was her third in a row with at least ten points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Katelyn Haro, who posted eight points in addition to eight boards and three steals. What's more, she also racked up three assists, the most she's had since back in January of 2024.

Sierra Vista has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.2 points per game. As for Duarte, they moved to 7-5 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sierra Vista won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Azusa at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Duarte, they will also get right back to it: they'll challenge Nogales at 4:45 p.m. on Friday.
