Minneapolis City recap Oct. 23, 2012

Minneapolis Southwest extended the longest winning streak in Minneapolis City this week by beating Highland Park, 22-10. This was the team's fourth consecutive win.

Henry/West Metro led the league in scoring this week after putting up 38 points on Harding.

Washburn's dynamic duo of Morley Mathewson and Jason Williams proved tough for St. Paul Central to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Mathewson threw for 72 yards and one touchdown and Williams had 47 yards receiving. Noah Scarver helped Washburn's passing attack out by catching one ball for 13 yards.

Dantavian Sears was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 23 carries, he ran for 200 yards as Minneapolis Southwest fell to the Minutemen. Teammate DeAnthony McKinley added to the ground attack by rushing for 88 yards.

Thanks to the talents of Mathewson and Raymonte Maynard Washburn has been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Mathewson leads the league in passing with 725 yards, while Maynard has rushed for 914 yards this season. The Patriots' Darius Hill leads the league in receiving yards with 368 on 23 catches.

John Biezuns' team made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 7,038 from 7,937. The advance stemmed from a 22-10 victory over the Scots last week.
