Basketball Recap: East Juniata Takes a Loss

East Juniata was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss. They came up short against the Greenwood Wildcats, falling 45-20. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 623rd, while the Wildcats are ranked 208th).

Greenwood's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Bekah Brinser, who posted six points in addition to eight boards and seven assists. Brinser has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 12 times she's played. Danica Zurenko was another key player, going 5 for 11 en route to 13 points and six rebounds.

East Juniata's defeat dropped their record down to 4-13. As for Greenwood, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the East Juniata Tigers challenge the Mifflinburg Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Greenwood has already played their next match (against Newport), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
