Basketball Recap: Sacramento Adventist Takes Down Foresthill in a Playoff Battle

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Sacramento Adventist walked away with it. They were the clear victor by a 53-31 margin over the Foresthill Wildfires on Thursday. The Capitals have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 15 matches by 22 points or more this season.

Sacramento Adventist was led to victory by Gwen Rosich and Kyla Friedrich. Rosich dropped a triple-double with 16 points, 11 rebounds, and 13 steals, while Friedrich went 8-for-14 en route to 19 points and seven steals. The dominant performance gave Rosich a new career-high in steals. Another player making a difference was Jasmine Rodriguez, who posted five points and six steals.

Sacramento Adventist smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in six consecutive games.

When it comes to explaining why Foresthill lost, don't look at Amy Saxelby. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double with 17 points and 18 boards. That was a full 54.8% of Foresthill's points, marking the third time in a row Saxelby has earned more than a third of the team's points.

Sacramento Adventist's record now sits at 20-6. As for Foresthill, their loss dropped their record down to 18-10.

Looking ahead, Sacramento Adventist will take on Sacramento Waldorf at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Sacramento Waldorf will roll in looking for their 16th straight victory, something Sacramento Adventist surely won't give up without a fight. Foresthill does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
