Recap: Steele Canyon Cougars vs. Hoover Cardinals

The Steele Canyon Cougars had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24.3 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Wednesday. They secured a 50-46 W over Hoover. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Steele Canyon also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2021.

Brianda Benitez continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring nine points along with nine rebounds and six assists. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Jadie Bowers, who scored 13 points along with two steals.

Several Cardinals players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jewel Parker, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and six assists. Parker hasn't dropped below two steals for 12 straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Hser Ku, who scored 13 points along with two steals.

Steele Canyon pushed their record up to 12-6 with that win, which was their seventh straight at home. As for Hoover, their loss dropped their record down to 8-8.

Steele Canyon and West Hills will face off at 6:30 p.m. on January 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for Hoover, Hoover and High Tech SD will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 12th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully High Tech SD focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Wednesday.
