Recap: Grant Pacers vs. Monterey Trail Mustangs

The Grant Pacers's game last Monday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They enjoyed a cozy 52-37 win over Monterey Trail. For Grant, this counts as revenge for the 47-36 defeat Monterey Trail walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2023.

Grant found their leader in underclassman Asia Washington, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 18 rebounds. Washington hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for nine straight games. Jalaysia Clements was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.

Grant pushed their record up to 14-3 with that win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.9 points per game. As for Monterey Trail, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-8 record this season.

Grant will challenge Burbank at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Burbank will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 1099th, while Grant is ranked 117th). As for Monterey Trail, they will be playing at home against Laguna Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
