Softball Recap: Gilman City Takes a Loss

If Gilman City was feeling good fresh off their 14-2 takedown of Grundy County on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Hawks came up short against the Pattonsburg Panthers on Thursday, falling 12-6. The loss continues a trend for the Hawks in their meetings with the Panthers: they've now lost three in a row.

Khloey Sperry was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with four stolen bases and three runs. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Caitlynn Chalfant, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Gilman City's defeat dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Pattonsburg, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-2.

Looking ahead, Gilman City will square off against Putnam County at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Pattonsburg, they will head out on the road to challenge Tri-County at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
