Basketball Recap: United Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Braleigh James and Lilly Mcginnis

United lost against Penns Manor back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The United Lions fell 45-38 to the Penns Manor Comets. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 355th, while the Comets are ranked 68th).

United's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Lilly McGinnis, who went 8 of 15 en route to 20 points along with five rebounds and three steals, and Braleigh James, who posted 15 points. McGinnis is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season.

It was another big night for Alyssa Altemus, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten boards for Penns Manor. The team also got some help courtesy of Katie Bertolino, who put up five points and seven rebounds.

This is the second loss in a row for United and nudges their season record down to 9-9. As for Penns Manor, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-3.

United wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 48-32 victory against Conemaugh Valley on the 29th. Penns Manor has also already played their next game, a 48-32 win against West Shamokin on the 29th.
