Telfair County has gone 9-1 against Clinch County recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Trojans will head out to challenge the Panthers at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Telfair County came out on top against Johnson County on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run first inning. Telfair County blew past Johnson County 9-1.
The team relied heavily on Journee Kennedy, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Trinity Deeds, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Telfair County hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in four consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Clinch County got themselves on the board against Atkinson County on Tuesday, but Atkinson County never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Rebels with a sharp 11-0 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Panthers.
Sophie Corbitt was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Annalee George also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Telfair County's record is now 11-8. As for Clinch County, their record now sits at 14-6.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Telfair County has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Clinch County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Telfair County suffered a grim 14-3 defeat to Clinch County in their previous meeting back in August. Can the Trojans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
