Basketball Recap: Duchesne Comes Up Short

The home team had won the previous six meetings between Duchesne and Platteview, and Platteview kept the tradition alive. The Cardinals took a 51-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Trojans on Tuesday. The Cardinals were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Trojans apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2025.

When it comes to explaining why Duchesne lost, don't look at Jada James. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double with 29 points and ten boards. That was a full 64.4% of the Cardinals' points, marking the fifth time in a row James has posted more than a third of the team's points.

Duchesne's loss dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Platteview, their victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-9.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Duchesne will face off against South Sioux City at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Duchesne will be up against South Sioux City's rather soft defense (which has allowed 51.06 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Platteview, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Ralston at 6:00 p.m.
